Shannon
Ritch is about much more than numbers, titles and stats; he stands for
something. Shannon was bullied as a child; so he had to learn to defend
himself, little did he know the life path this experience would take him down.
On top of being a sports champion, Shannon gives back to the kids. He does
motivational speaking at schools and children’s youth groups about bullying and
its consequences to others, especially cyberbullying. Today’s technologies,
makes it even easier for kids to experience being bullied. He also teaches
children self defence and is proud to be called Coach by his tiny champions at
Cannon Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Glendale, Arizona. The children adore him and his
eyes practically light up and twinkle when he talks about their victories and
his pride in them. Shannon is also a goodwill sports ambassador, doing seminars
and workshops in other countries. While in Japan he was the first American to
go to that country and teach Brazilian Jiu Jitsu; and while in Russia he does
seminars on Bjj and Mixed Martial Arts, he has the honor of being the first
American to go to Beloyarsky, which is in Siberia.

Shannon is
also a champion to our country. He’s a military veteran of the U.S. Army
and  instructor of Defensive Tactics /
CQB – CQC: Close quarter battle and close quarter combat.

He was
personal bodyguard in Iraq- during the war- to United States Ambassador Mr.
John Negroponte. As a trained military advisor, Shannon goes to different
military bases and teaches weapon retention and weapon takeaways. He has taught
for many organizations including the FBI, CIA,
Swat and Special Forces; to give back to his brothers in arms. He is
part of  American 300, this is a group of
former military, musicians, Olympic and professional athletes. This is much
like the USO, except they actually go out and talk to the troops and visit
smaller military bases.

Shannon
made his professional debut in 1991 in Mexico, where they had dogs and chicken
fights proceeding his bloody battles. Real No Holds Barred, bare knuckle,
Shannon states he will fight anyone, anywhere, anytime. That fighting spirit
got him the main event in the PRIDE Fighting Championship. He made his debut on
October 31, 2000 at Pride 11, facing the legendary Japanese fighter, Kazushi
Sakuraba, the #1 fighter in the world at the time.

On to
Bare-knuckle boxing; this is the original form of boxing, closely related to
ancient combat sports. It involves two individuals fighting without boxing
gloves or other padding on their hands. The difference between a street fight
and a bare-knuckle boxing match is an accepted set of rules, such as not
striking a downed opponent. Shannon calls it Precision Boxing; because if you strike
incorrectly, you can break your own bones, and thus precision and a different
technique are needed. The first bare-knuckle champion of England was James
Figg, who claimed the title in 1719 and held it until his retirement in 1730.
Shannon is
deep in preparation for his big chance to make history as Arizona’s 1st
BKB  Champion. He says it’s time to
unleash the Cannon, he keeps his alter persona locked up until fight time, the
Cannon he states, is a maniac, he will fight anyone, anytime, anywhere. His
training camp is going well and he feels he’s well prepared to take on this
challenge and to add extra interest to this historical fight, it will it be
broadcast worldwide on PPV. So the stakes are high.

Shannon
Ritch is so much more than a great athlete, he is a great man, a man who takes
a stand to help others, mentors children and represents our country. We at
Sports Action Arizona wish him the best as he goes into battle Sat. Feb 2nd.
2019. Team USA takes on team Mexico will be available worldwide on pay per
view. Sponsorship opportunities are available, it will be great exposure for
your company or brand. Let us all get behind this great champion and show him
